25 songs i can’t live without: Master Rakesh - “Kangna”

this song first entered my life via the club version, which got dropped and went hard at many a desi party in the early 2000s at various “clubs” in oxford, ohio. it entered my heart, however, in this acoustic version, somewhere on ohio’s I-71 in Von Swayne’s 1993 Toyota Camry a.k.a “The Leaf on Chrome.” windows were down, the volume on the pioneer deck was set at an ideal 47db and nary a speed limit was observed. it must have been something in the combination of speed, wind, beautiful acoustic guitar and smooth punjabi vocals. whatever it was, this song was perfect for the ride home after the club, the journey to and from many missions for love and inspiration for countless studio sessions.
