Bruno Mars - “Grenade” (Live Snippet, Bowery Ballroom, NYC)
on wednesday night, Bruno Mars blessed a packed Bowery Ballroom with a sneak preview of some of the goodness that he and atlantic records will be dropping on october 5th, and i was fortunate enough to be there. seeing him live only confirmed his talent and my belief that this guy is about to be a big deal. he produces, he writes, and he performs (and the ladies scream). and he’s a beast at all three. on stage he’s got presence, style and infectiously fun character — there was never a dull moment. and if the writing on “Grenade” is any indication, his album will be just as hard to say no to as what he’s released so far…
oh, AND he can cover michael. and kill it.
Ryan Leslie smashed the Bowery Ballroom in NYC last Tuesday (6/22/2010). The musical highlight of the evening was probably this - “How It Was Supposed To Be” is one of those songs that is infinitely more energetic and moving live - enough to make me cop a ticket whenever possible. The wildest part of the evening, however, was me stepping aside to make way for Denzel Washington to walk into VIP and not recognizing him. Either his incognito game is on point or I’m just a moron…or both. But i digress - enjoy the vid and go see Ryan Leslie if you ever have the chance - you won’t be disappointed.
i was fortunate enough to be at a sold out Corinne Bailey Rae + Daniel Merriweather show a few weeks ago at Webster Hall in NYC. the following night, they performed for another sold-out crowd at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. the next day, i was mad at myself for not taking more video (see one of my Daniel Merriweather clips below) and hoped that someone else had professionally recorded it. fortunately, the good folks at VEVO captured some of the W’Burg show. if you ever have the chance to see either of these two perform live, do yourself a favor and cop tickets without hesitation.
Daniel Merriweather killed it at the Grammercy Theatre in NYC last night. lucky for me he closed with my favorite song: “Red”
